Our foundation was created to honor the life of Alexandria “Lexi” Rose Georgeff. Lexi was born with Chronic Neuropathic Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction causing her intestinal function to fail therefore she was unable to eat. In order to meet her nutritional needs, Lexi required nightly IV (intravenous) infusions which eventually damaged her liver. In January 2005, Lexi was placed on the UNOS national waiting list for a multi-organ transplant (stomach, liver, pancreas and intestines) due to her failing liver. Unfortunately, Lexi passed away at age fourteen before she was able to receive organs for transplant. While on the waiting list, several fundraising events were conducted to help Lexi’s family with unforeseen transplant related expenses. Upon her death in June of 2005, these funds were put into a donation account to help others; in memory of Lexi. The Love 4 Lexi L4L Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising public awareness of the critical need for organ and tissue donation as well as helping children who are affected by gastrointestinal disorders. Some of our primary functions include offering grants or assistance to families of children with gastrointestinal dysfunction who demonstrate a financial need, and supporting gastrointestinal research at major medical institutions. The Love for Lexi L4L Foundation recently made a substantial research contribution to the gastrointestinal service of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, as well as a $30,000 donation to the new West Tower at CHW. We have also contributed a Smartboard, several learning modules and books that are about children living with challenges to Webster Middle School’s (Cedarburg, WI) Special Education department. Recently, we donated a Smartboard to John Long Middle School in Grafton, WI, supported the “Possibility Playground” in Port Washington, WI, as well as donated to WKLH’s Christmas for Kids and donated toys to CHW for children who spent the holidays in the hospital.
November 2010 we helped out a local family with unforeseen medical bills.
December 2010 donated toys and gift cards to Children’s Hospital in Wisconsin for children in the hospital for the holidays.
We are sponsoring Cedarburg Cultural Center’s 2011 Plein Air art show for children.
